Michael Chopra’s goal in the 54th minute saw the Blues to a 1-0 victory over Burnley, their fifth home win in a row. After an understated first half, Town dominated the second and in the end should have won more comfortably, despite having Grant Leadbitter red-carded in the closing moments.

Goals from Jack Marriott (pictured) and Jack Simmons saw Russell Osman’s U18s into the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup via a 2-0 victory over Leeds at Portman Road. Marriott netted in the first half, then Simmons wrapped it up moments after coming on as a sub late on.

Town were once again left ruing missed chances after a Jason Euell goal gave Blackpool a 1-0 victory at Bloomfield Road. A mistake from Gareth McAuley allowed Euell to net the winner in the second half, but the Blues had more than enough opportunities to get back on terms and go ahead later in the half.

Goals from Jon Stead, Jack Colback and Gareth McAuley took the Blues to a 3-1 win over Blackpool, out of the bottom three and extended their unbeaten run to 10 games. Stead curled home in the opening minute, Colback added the second before half-time and McAuley headed in the third after Ian Evatt had pulled one back for the Tangerines, who had David Vaughan sent off for two bookable offences late on.
